前言

 

弟兄姊妹，今天我們要使用 “字義研究”來看 “成聖”。“成聖”這個字在英文是 Sanctification (名詞) ，和Sanctify (動詞)。成聖這個字的字根包括了 2 個意思：(1). 分別 (出來) （Set Apart）,  (2). 光亮 (Brightness)。(關於 “字義研究”的應用和步驟，請參考 “字義研究介紹”(www.gloryw.org) )。

 

弟兄姊妹，我們看到成聖的名詞 (Sanctification) 在全本聖經中並沒有出現過。可是成聖的動詞 (Sanctify) 在聖經中出現 16 次之多。但是，這個動詞全部只出現在新約中。而在舊約中，成聖這個字完全沒有出現過。所以我們可以下一個結論，說， “成聖”是一個新約中的特別詞句。我們也可以說， “成聖”是新約中的一個特別恩典。

 

現在更進一步，我們發現 “成聖”這個動詞在經文中共有三種不同的使用方法。它們是:(1).  Sanctify (動詞)，(2). Sanctified (被動分詞)，和  (3). Sanctifying (主動分詞)。現在我們要以這三種不同的形態來做大綱，查考這些經文。

  1. 成聖Sanctify (動詞) (4 次)

 

       (1). 約 17: 14-19

17:14我已將你的道賜給他們。世界又恨他們，因為他們不屬世界，正如我不屬世界一樣。

17:15我不求你叫他們離開世界，只求你保守他們脫離那惡者。

17:16他們不屬世界，正如我不屬世界一樣。

17:17求你用真理使他們 “成聖”（Sanctify them），你的道就是真理。

17:18你怎樣差我到世上，我也照樣差他們到世上。

17:19我為他們的緣故，自己 “分別為聖”(Sanctify myself) ，叫他們也因真理 “成聖”(be sanctified) 。

 

弟兄姊妹，以上這一段經文對於成聖的了解是非常重要的。因為以上這一段經文是包含在耶穌在離開人世以前，所作的一個長的禱告之內。

 

這個禱告發生在耶穌的“最後的晚餐” 的那個晚上。當他說完這個禱告後，他就和十一位門徒去了 “橄欖山” 中間的一個園子，叫做“客西馬尼園” 。不久之後，耶穌就被捕了。

 

這一個禱告是記載在約翰 17 章 (1-26)。因為耶穌的這個禱告非常地長，如果我們沒注意，會把它看成好像是耶穌的 “教導”，而不是耶穌的 “禱告”。

 

弟兄姊妹，耶穌在這個禱告中給我們一個新的 “啓示”。這個新的 “啓示”就是 “成聖”。而他用了一個新的動詞來說明。這個新的動詞就是， “Sanctify  。我們知道這個字在其它三本福音書中都沒有提過。

 

在這個禱告中，耶穌祈求上帝用 “神的道” (神的話) 來使他的門徒們 “成聖”。然後耶穌又說，因為他的門徒們的綠故，他自己也 “分別為聖”，以至於他們能夠真正 “成聖”。

 

現在，我們來看一看，自從耶穌講了這個新的啓示之後，新約聖經有没有使徒將這個啓示再解釋呢？有的。

 

       (2). 帖前1Th 5: 23

5:23願賜平安的神，親自使你們全然 “成聖”。又願你們的靈、與魂、與身子，得蒙保守。在我主耶穌基督降臨的時候，完全無可指摘。

1Th 5:23 May God himself, the God of peace, “sanctify you” through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

神可以使門徒成聖。

       (3). 希伯來 9: 13, 14

9:13若山羊和公牛的血，並母牛犢的灰，灑在不潔的人身上，尚且叫人 “成聖”，身體潔淨。

Heb 9:13 The blood of goats and bulls and the ashes of a heifer sprinkled on those who are ceremonially unclean  “sanctify them” so that they are outwardly clean.

9:14何況基督藉著永遠的靈，將自己無瑕無疵獻給神，他的血豈不更能洗淨你們的心，除去你們的死行，使你們事奉那永生神麼？

Heb 9:14 How much more, then, will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself unblemished to God, cleanse our consciences from acts that lead to death, so that we may serve the living God!

基督的血能使門徒成聖。

       小結：綜合以上這些經文，我們認為人成聖有下列三種方式：

(1). “神的道” (神的話) 可以使人成聖。

(2). “神”自己可以使門徒成聖。

(3). “基督的血”能使門徒成聖。

2. 成聖Sanctified (被動分詞) (10 次)

      (1). 行傳 20:32; 26: 18

20:32如今我把你們交託神，和他恩惠的道。這道能建立你們，叫你們和一切 “成聖”的人同得基業。

Ac 20:32 "Now I commit you to God and to the word of his grace, which can build you up and give you an inheritance among all those who “are sanctified”.

26:18我差你到他們那裡去，要叫他們的眼睛得開，從黑暗中歸向光明，從撒但權下歸向神。又因信我，得蒙赦罪，和一切 “成聖”的人同得基業。

Ac 26:18 to open their eyes and turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, so that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who “are sanctified” by faith in me.'

      (2). 羅馬 15: 16

15:16使我為外邦人作基督耶穌的僕役，作神福音的祭司。叫所獻上的外邦人，因著聖靈， “成為聖潔”，可蒙悅納。

Ro 15:16 to be a minister of Christ Jesus to the Gentiles with the priestly duty of proclaiming the gospel of God, so that the Gentiles might become an offering acceptable to God,“sanctified”by the Holy Spirit.

聖靈可使人成聖。

      (3). 林前 1: 2; 6: 11; 7: 14

1:2寫信給哥林多神的教會，就是在基督耶穌裡成聖，蒙召作 “聖徒”的，以及所有在各處求告我主耶穌基督之名的人。基督是他們的主，也是我們的主。

1Co 1:2 To the church of God in Corinth, to those “sanctified” in Christ Jesus and called to be holy, together with all those everywhere who call on the name of our Lord Jesus Christ--their Lord and ours:

6:11你們中間也有人從前是這樣。但如今你們奉主耶穌基督的名，並藉著我們神的靈，已經洗淨，“成聖”稱義了。

1Co 6:11 And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you “were sanctified”, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

奉耶穌基督的名，和神的聖靈，人可以成聖。

 

7:14因為不信的丈夫，就因著妻子 “成了聖潔”。並且不信的妻子，就因著丈夫 “成了聖潔”。不然，你們的兒女就不潔淨。但如今他們是聖潔的了。

1Co 7:14 For the unbelieving husband “has been sanctified” through his wife, and the unbelieving wife  “has been sanctified” through her believing husband. Otherwise your children would be unclean, but as it is, they are holy.

不信的丈夫，可因著信主的妻子成了聖潔。不信的妻子，可因著信主的丈夫 成了聖潔。

       (4). 帖前 4: 3

4:3神的旨意就是要你們“成為聖潔”，遠避淫行。

1Th 4:3 It is God's will that you  “should be sanctified”: that you should avoid sexual immorality;

神的旨意就是要我們成為聖潔。

       (5). 希伯來 10: 29

10:29何況人踐踏神的兒子，將那使他 “成聖”之約的血當作平常，又褻慢施恩的聖靈。你們想，他要受的刑罰該怎樣加重呢？

Heb 10:29 How much more severely do you think a man deserves to be punished who has trampled the Son of God under foot, who has treated as an unholy thing the blood of the covenant that “ sanctified him”, and who has insulted the Spirit of grace?

耶穌基督的寶血可使人成聖。

       小結：綜合以上這些經文，我們認為人成聖有下列四種方式：

(1). “聖靈”可使人成聖。

(2). 奉 “耶穌基督的名”，和 “神的聖靈”，人可以成聖。

(3). 不信的丈夫，可因著信主的妻子成了聖潔。不信的妻子，可因著信主的丈夫 成了聖潔。

(4). “耶穌基督的寶血”可使人成聖。

另外，“神的旨意”就是要我們成為聖潔。

3. 成聖Sanctifying (主動分詞)  (2 次)

       (1). 帖後2Th 2: 13

2:13主所愛的弟兄們哪，我們本該常為你們感謝神。因為他從起初揀選了你們，叫你們因信真道，又被聖靈感動 “成為聖潔”，能以得救。

2Th 2:13 But we ought always to thank God for you, brothers loved by the Lord, because from the beginning God chose you to be saved through  “the sanctifying work” of the Spirit and through belief in the truth.

因信真道，又被聖靈感動可使人成為聖潔。

 

      (2). 彼前 1: 2

1:2就是照父神的先見被揀選，藉著聖靈 “得成聖潔”，以致順服耶穌基督，又蒙他血所灑的人，願恩惠平安，多多的加給你們。

1Pe 1:2 who have been chosen according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through “the sanctifying work” of the Spirit, for obedience to Jesus Christ and sprinkling by his blood: Grace and peace be yours in abundance.

人藉著聖靈可以得成聖潔。

       小結：綜合以上這些經文，我們認為人成聖有下列二種方式：

 

(1). 因信 “真道”，又被 “聖靈感動”可使人成為聖潔。

(2). 人藉著 “聖靈”可以得成聖潔。

4. 結語

 

(1).“成聖”這個字只有新約才使用。所以成聖是新約的特別恩典。我們應該特別感謝耶穌基督為我們所成就的。

 

(2). 成聖的途徑：綜合以上全部經文，我們認為人成聖有下列五種方式

(a).“神的道”可以使人成聖。

(b). “神自已”可以使門徒成聖。

(c). “基督的血”能使門徒成聖。

(d). “聖靈”可使人成聖。

(e). 不信的丈夫，可因著信主的妻子成了聖潔。不信的妻子，可因著信主的丈夫 成了聖潔。

(3). 神的旨意就是要我們成為聖潔。

(4). 至於關於 “成聖”的詳細解說，我們可以參考羅馬書 (6 章到 8章)。
